Flowers are blooming and people are walking around in t-shirts and shorts. The sun is shining and the grass is turning green… in the winter! Europe strikes a warm winter with no snow and high temperatures. These occasions are extremely rare, but possible.
New research shows that the climate will change to lower temperatures but not below average. It seems like a good thing for Europe this year, after a horrific winter scene last year, with several inches of snow and cold temperatures.
In 2008, Europe underwent a horror winter. The highest temperature during that time was forecasted to be 1 degree Celsius between 1990 and 2008. They had major snow storms that slowed down traffic and many snow piles blocked the roads.
According to NASA observations, we have entered a new normal solar maximum until 2017. Meaning, high pressure blockades and an inflow of cold air in Arctic Regions to Siberia.
We have increased a number of sunspots which influences air patterns in higher atmosphere. Because of this, the Arctic Oscillation is leaning more towards the positive phase which is why the weather forecasted fewer snowstorms in Europe.
Studies should that the Gulf Stream produces heat in Europe. Without it, the weather would be much colder. The reason is because the North Atlantic Ocean cools down and sinks to the ocean floor. The Gulf Stream then produces heat and maintains a warm forecast in Europe.
Besides the fact that Europe is holding a warm winter, the forecast shows that they will remain at a nice and quiet temperature for the rest of the year.
