scientists say that by 2024 we could have a version of a holodeck like seen the TV series Star Trek Next Generation where you could create any person or place into a hologram that looked/sounded real.
Hollywood and game makers all want to create a 3D virtual world that can bring the person into the game or movie story plot line and be more interactive than just sitting down and watching the movie. In Sunnyvale California AMD has built a version of the holodeck, shaped like a dome with projectors wall to wall while using surround system while people sit around, able to see everything around them. Some people argue that no one wants to see someone have blood gush out or having brains spray out from someone while holodecks can be used to map weather patterns and help doctors with their surgery.
